About 12 Volt River Port by Holger Matthes

Inspired by the old 12 Volt train accessory sets #7823 container terminal and #7838 freight depot I realised the idea of an inland river port in the classic 12 Volt Grey Era style. The original sets were converted to MOCs and the whole layout is surrounded by industrial architecture. Older half-timbered buildings from the former port nearly all disappeared and more and functional buildings like a chemical plant or various storage buildings grew up on the water side. The layout is kept in the classic train and town style from the 1980s. Play value is guaranteed by a remote control decoupling unit and a little turntable with hidden 12 Volt Technic motors underneath the platform. The tiny curcuitcube motor helps to power some vehicle which are used as shunting engine for the bulk freight cars which are loaded and unloaded by a bridged crane with the iconic yellow shovel.
