About Atlantic Coast Line 4-6-0 #250 by Nicholas Howell
Atlantic Coast Line #250 is a K-14 class 4-6-0 built in 1910 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. It served until the early 1950s, and was one of the last ACL steam locomotives in service, running between Wilmington and Fayetteville, North Carolina. It was displayed in Tampa, Florida, outside the Seaboard Coast Line's headquarters until 1983 when it was donated to the Wilmington Railroad Museum in North Carolina where it resides today.
My model was first built in September 2023; however, since then I have made numerous modifications. These modifications included adding details I initially overlooked, adding curtains to the rear of the cab, and adding some light prototypical weathering. I have also represented the copper ring around the top of the smokestack that gave these locomotives the nickname "Copperheads." The model is powered by a single Lego PF L motor in the boiler and has a working headlight and firebox. Third party parts include: Big Ben Bricks wheels, Trained Bricks rods, Brick Model Railroader knuckle couplers and ballbearings, and Brickmania monopods and u-clips.
