About ATSF 3460 “Blue Goose” by Nemowerty

Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway’s 3460 was built in 1937, part of an order for 10 4-6-4 engines for the rail line. 3460 was the only engine of its class to be streamlined – the “Blue Goose” nickname coming from its iconic robin’s egg blue and silver coloring - and was used prominently in ATSF’s marketing. 3460 was retired in 1956.
