About Canadian Pacific Railway Royal Hudson by Nemowerty

The 4-6-4 Royal Hudson’s are arguably the most well-known engines from the Canadian Pacific Railway, their royal moniker deriving from No. 2850 carrying King George and Queen Elizabeth on the westbound section of their continental tour of Canada in 1939. The semi-streamlined design evokes the last great era of steam.

No. 2860 was saved for restoration by the British Columbia government in 1973. It would go on to serve a long life in excursion service, notably attending the 1986 Steam Expo in Vancouver and double heading the “Great Canadian Steam Excursion” with Canadian National No. 6060. It is currently housed at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park in Squamish.
