About Comeng EMU by Exie N

The Comeng are a class of EMUs, currently ran in a M-T-M-M-T-M consist, operating on Melbourne's suburban railway network. Built by their namesake Commonwealth Engineering, they were introduced in 1981 to replace the aging Tait and Harris suburban trains and currently operate in reduced numbers across the network.

This model depicts a 6-car Comeng, refurbished by EDI Rail between 2000 and 2003, in the Connex livery, used from 2004, after M>Train handed over operations to Connex, to 2009, when Metro Trains Melbourne took over operations from Connex. Designed with the intention of being eventually built in real life, this model strikes a balance between accuracy to the real-life prototype, overall structural integrity, and ease of construction. Despite sporting a full interior and concessions made for motorisation, this model is instantly recognisable and well detailed, including the subtly curved sides, brake cylinders and shock absorbers on the bogies, and the yellow handles on the doors. The livery is also mostly brick built, with stickers used only for the yellow stripe on the side and colour correcting part of the cab.
