About EMD SW1200 by Matt Csenge
The EMD SW1200 is a 4 axle diesel switcher locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division between January 1954 and May 1966. The locomotive is powered by an EMD 567C 12-cylinder engine which generates 1,200 horsepower (890 kW). Additional SW1200 production was completed by General Motors Diesel in Ontario, Canada, between September 1955 and June 1964.
737 examples of this locomotive model were built for U.S. railroads, 287 were built for Canadian railroads, 4 were built for Brazilian railroads, 25 were built for a Chilean industrial firm, and 3 were built for the Panama Canal Railway.
My model is of New York, New Haven & Hartford number 649 and is powered with Powered Up components - the first of mine to use these - using two train motors. The different colors on parts was achieved using black and white electrical tape (I didn't want to worry about color matching red Lego to red electrical tape), which worked incredibly well in my opinion! The design was inspired by the SW1200 designed by Caleb Shields (Yellow's.lxf), though modifications and adjustments were made to nearly every aspect of the model in developing my design.
