About Ffestiniog Railway Small England ‘Prince’ by Canvas Rails

Ffestiniog Railway Number 2 ‘Prince’.

The prototype for this little 0-4-0ST+T saddle tank tender locomotive was built by George England in 1863. It is also the inspiration for ‘Duke’ in the Railway Series.

Prince was first steam locomotive rebuilt for use on the reopened Ffestiniog Railway in 1955.

The Lego model runs on standard gauge Lego track and is powered by a Powered Up battery box under the saddle tank and train motor. The headlights are regular Powered Up lights. The only modified parts are the technic cranks that drive the side rods, which have been shortened for better clearance. The steam dome doubles as the on/off switch for the battery box. The cab is full of the PU wires, but there is just enough space for a driver using the Chip figure from the Disney Train with a replacement head and the essential flat cap.
