About GWR Diesel Railcar No.4 – “The Flying Banana” by Simon Bowen

This is an example of a Great Western Railway diesel railcar, nicknamed 'flying bananas.' This one (number 4) was built in 1934, has been restored, and is on display at the National Railway Museum in York.

I was drawn to making this railcar because of its striking streamlined shape and it's 'bonkers-ness' - even though it is only a single unit it nevertheless has two separate saloons, toilets, and a buffet bar! All of which I've modelled in the interior thanks to dropping the Powered-Up battery box right down to make space above.
