About LNER S1/2 Class (Booster) by This is a DUCK!

I wanted to build a model that was both fast and powerful and I had the idea of using a gearbox to switch between 2 different motors. I looked for a suitable loco that would have ample space inside to use for the mechanism and found the LNER S1/2. This was a development of the GCR 8H class which had a superheater fitted and a booster replacing the trailing wheels. On the model, the booster is powered by a Lego Train Motor. A single XL Motor in the fire box sends power down to the 8 main driving wheels but can be disengaged by a gearbox operated by a Servo Motor. This allows it to freewheel when under power from just the booster and reach much higher speeds than the XL motor would allow. Both motors can be used in conjunction for maximum torque, making it very powerful. It doesn't use traction bands relies on its own weight (992g) and 12 powered wheels. I have tested it with pulling a 3949g train with 17 wagons & coaches that all have standard lego wheels (not bearings) and it gets on just fine. In addition, it has a Lego Micro Motor powering a decoupling mechanism. It also has lamp bracket on the rear so I can display the appropriate headlamp codes. The top of the cab can be easily removed to access the BuWizz battery box. I designed and printed both the wheels and rods myself in black and silver silk PLA.
