About MÁV Class 411. 118. “Truman” by Zala Szente

This model is based on the most loved steam locomotive of my home country. The MÁV Class 411. 118. was originally built as a USATC S160 in 1944 by the American Locomotive Company. It was sent to Europe by the US military to carry military rowling stocks. In 1946 the Hungarian government bought 510 S160's for 10.000$ for each, to do service and to use the parts of the locomotives. The 411. 118. was serving in Hungary's biggest railway centers such as Hegyeshalom, Hatvan and Budapest. 118. was serving from 1949-1980 when it was finally got into the public domain. After that a person who was a fireman himself had an idea to restore this beaty by himself. After that the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) brought up the engine to the country's main train museum.
It is still there and since than its still operating perfectly fine and it is one of the last still operating USATC S160's in the world!
