About Nickel Plate Road GP-30 No.900 by Nick Dombi

The EMD GP-30 was the last iconic locomotive that defined the Nickel Plate Road. Limited to just ten members, I have chosen to model class leader number 900 as it was delivered to Brewster Ohio is November of 1962. I fully admit that this model started life as a Conrail GP30 designed by Brick Train Depot, but like any model railroader, taking a base model and heavily modifying it to suit one's own needs is the name of the game. With that small disclaimer out of the way, I'd like to look at the modifications carried out.
-Cab Interior added
-The Nose was completely rebuilt to allow for its nose headlight and notch for the bell.
-Rachet Hanbrake added to the fireman's side of locomotive
-Automatic Signal Box removed and grabirons added in correct positions on engineer's side.
-On the Cab roof, the Motorola Firecracker Antenna was added as well as a S-3L Horn mounted in the center of the roof
-The Dynamic Exhaust fan was removed and recessed area between the conical streamlined casing added.
-MU Hose stands added to front and rear of locomotive
Bricks on side of carbody changed to reflect paneling found on the prototype.
-Blomberg B truck made to a custom design and move in by one stud for a closer to prototype wheelbase length.
-Fuel Tank cut down to match reduced capacity of NKP models
-Speedometer and wheelslip indicator lines added to front truck but not rear, as per prototype.

Decals were fully designed by me and printed by OKBrickworks. This model was made with all Lego parts with the addition of BrickArms Monopods and is controlled by Lego's Powered Up System and two Train Motor Bogies. The amount of detail added and change from the source material make this kitbash stand out from a stock model and worthy of its own entry into the Brick Train Awards.
