About NYC 1939 “Pacemaker” by Joseph Meador

The Pacemaker was the New York Central's premier, all-coach service between New York and Chicago. It was intended to compete with the Pennsylvania Railroad's Trail Blazer. The train initially utilized rebuilt heavyweight equipment before being upgraded to lightweight Budd cars a year after its inauguration into service. The train remained on the timetable up until the Penn Central merger.

My model of the Pacemaker consist contains a 60' baggage car, a horse car, a coach car, diner car, lounge car, and parlor observation car. It is pulled by my K-5b "Pacific" steam locomotive, numbered 4915, but can also be pulled by my J-1 "Hudson", numbered 5217. Each car, based off of the 1939 "reversed two-tone grey" scheme, features a fully detailed interior and underside.
