About NYC K-5b 4-6-2 “Pacific” No. 4915 by Joseph Meador

Before the New York Central (NYC) Railroad developed its fleet of the famous 4-6-4 J class Hudson locomotives, they held a sizable roster of K class 4-6-2 Pacific locomotives, which served them very well in pulling passenger trains until they got too heavy for the Pacific locomotives to efficiently pull. This particular prototype, 4915, was actually streamlined at one point in its career to pull the NYC's "Mercury" passenger train. This version, however, is of the locomotive's non-streamlined appearance. The model is built in 1:48 scale, coming out to 81 studs in length from coupler to coupler. When physically built, the model will be powered using a DCC decoder, in order to be able to incorporate functions such as lights and sounds.
