About NYC Subway R33S “Bluebird” by Ethan C ( @ABentMetrocard )

The R33S subway cars were a distinctive part of New York City Transit’s fleet from the 1960s through the early 2000s. Although the car type later became famous under the “Redbird” nickname, these cars debuted in a striking robin‑egg blue and white livery (Nicknamed "Bluebirds") exclusively for the 7 line that served the 1964 World’s Fair in Queens. Re‑creating that iconic color scheme in LEGO proved especially challenging due to the limited range of medium‑azure elements available. The model is somewhere between 1:40 to 1:45 scale while able to negotiate R40 curves. It is also possible to motorize with PF or PU.
