About SBB CFF FFS | Ski Trailer for RCe 2/4 ‘Roter Pfeil’ by dolfmeister

When the RCe 2/4 rail cars entered service in the mid 1930s, they quickly gained popularity. So much so, that passengers would miss their usual train to catch one of the "Roter Pfeil" red arrows. This led to massive overcrowding, causing the management to reconsider the running schedules.

Thus, the railcars were assigned to excursion and charter services, especially to popular skiing destinations in the winter months. In order to accommodate bulky luggage and ski equipment, a single axle (!) trailer was constructed. It had a canvas cover and was connected to the rail car by means of a special coupling.

It is unclear whether or not there were ever any others built, and none survive in preservation.
