About SBB LRZ (Swiss Rescue Train) by mnemocron

Truly not your average commuter train. This custom Windhoff constellation is used by the Swiss national railway company as a tool to fix smaller and larger problems on the rails. Everyday tasks include: towing broken down trains, rerail derailed wagons, picking up tree branches along the tracks and 24h stand-by duty for serios incidents. Since it is such a Swiss Army knife of capabilities, I submit it to the Best Other Locomotive.

I am not the first one to build this train. But my little sister recently joined the ranks of rail-borne firefighters and drives one of these bad boys. So I was motivated to build her a train for her office desk. She happily invited me to the base and gave me a tour of the real thing. This is also where I took most of the pictures (I did not blindly step onto the tracks). By now the whole team of my sister must have their own brick built version at home.
