About Southern Pacific, AC-12, Cab Forward by Karle Mahler

This is a model of a locomotive built for the Southern Pacific Railroad. It was designed to pull freight trains over the mountains between Roseville, California and Sparks, Nevada, a distance of 120 miles. Forty miles of which were in tunnels and snow sheds. In order for the engine crew to see and breath the engine, which was oil fired, was turned around and run-in reverse. The model is powered by two Lego L-motors mounted in the boiler. A custom battery pack and PF receiver are mounted in the tender.
