About Stadler Citylink tramtrain (MÁV-START) by Donát Raáb

The Stadler Citylink tramtrain was a really complex project to build with LEGO-bricks in the scale of 1:45. The real vehicle runs as train between cities, but runs as a tram in the cities, including quite sharp turns, resulting that I wanted to build it capable of running on standard R40-geometry. As it is a tram, too, it has quite low car body profile, and bogies are completely hidden. The need for being capable of handling R40 and the body design required a lot of SNOT and thinking how the turnout for the bogies can be solved. The tramtrains' sidewall are angled, too, the vehicle is 8 studs wide at the bogies and width decreases to 7 studs for the rood. Since I also like keeping full interior, the battery packs (two old, 9V "boxy" battery boxes) are in the roof - where the diesel power generators are placed on the real tramtrains. Two train motors are under the middle section, controlled with an SBrick unit, the only non-LEGO element in this MOC.

Uploaded photos show the building design around the bogies and the R4-compatibility, too.
