About Stadler Flirt DMU / Elron 2234 “Werro” by M. Falin
This 1:40-scale LEGO model represents the Estonian Stadler FLIRT DMU. This one, called "WERRO", is a train unit consisting of two carriages and a motor unit in the middle. It is worth noting that the Baltic track gauge makes the train slightly wider than its counterparts designed for the standard 1435 mm gauge.
After building the Finnish class Sm5-Flirt I got interested in a diesel version of it so I travelled to Estonia.
The ready-made train has a huge number of details. Anyway I had to use stickers for the characteristic pattern of the train’s colours as well as brake discs on the wheels.
The model is motorized using the classic LEGO Power functions and is fully suitable for running on tracks, minimum curve radius R120 curves. The motors and other technical components occupy some of the available interior space, so I chose not to furnish the interior. My priority was to make sure that the functionality would not compromise the appearance of the model - and I’m very happy with how that turned out.
The motor unit has a separate XL-motor to simulate the sound of the motor also when the train is standing still.
