About Talgo 350 by Nikolai Nissen

The "Talgo 350", also known in Spain as "Renfe AVE S102" is among train enthusiasts mainly known for two things:
1. The very different composition of the carriages compared to traditional trains. Instead og having bogies in each end of the wagons, two carriages share 1 wheelset. Furthermore, the carriages are extremely short, low and wide. According to Talgo, the purpose of this is to reduce weight and increase passenger comfort. This method of creating trains has now been recreated in LEGO bricks. The train carriages maintain a distance of only 1 stud. This is achieved by using rubberbands for holding the carriages and wheelsets together. In curves, the rubberband, lets the distance between the carriages expands, while still maintaining a streamlined and close coupling.

2. The nose, or "beak". In Spain, the train is nicknamed "el pato" or "the duck". This name refers to the very unconventional and almost unpleasing-looking front. This ugly duckling can be seen running on the high speed link between Barcelona and Madrid.

My version consists of 6 passenger wagons, 1 dining car and 2 locomotives. When running with all carriages, the full length of the train is around 340 studs. That's over 2,7 meters!
