Build Challenge

The Build Challenge category asks LEGO train fans to build a model which fits this year’s theme.

Added to the Brick Train Awards to celebrate 5 years of the Brick Train Awards in 2024, this award returns in 2026. You can start building now, and submit your model by the end of the awards this year.

2026’s theme for the Build Challenge is Monochrome – your model must be built from parts of a single colour. Good luck!
  • Models must be built only from a single colour – parts must be the same shade of the colour (eg, Light Bluish Grey and Dark Bluish Grey are separate colours and cannot be used together)
  • Models must fit within a cube of 32 studs height, width and depth
  • Models must be railway / railroad themed
  • Models can be physically built or digital renders
  • Models must be created especially for the awards this year – they cannot have existed before the awards were announced
  • Models must not use decals or stickers

Entries will be judged with a focus on creative part usage, novelty of concept and execution. You can submit up to 3 entries in this category per year.

All entries in this category will be judged at a global level only.
